VSA – Chapter 52: The Villain’s Summer Begins.

Translator: Haruto.

Meanwhile, at the Sumino family’s residence…

“Thanks for the food. Phew. It was delicious, Rina.”

“Thank you.”

Mahiro and Rina have just finished their dinner. Today’s main dish was Hamburg steak.

“I’ll wash the dishes. You can go ahead and take a bath, Rina.”

“Okay.” Rina goes to the second floor to grab a change of clothes before heading to the bathroom.

Sometime later, Mahiro finishes washing the dishes and opens the fridge to get a bottle of tea.

“Huh? What happened to the…”

The moment Mahiro looks inside, however, she notices something.

“From what I saw this morning, I was sure Rina would cook ground meat cutlets today, but… the ingredients are not here anymore.”

The First Semester Closing Ceremony marks both a temporary halt of school activities and the beginning of one of the most important times in the life of any student: summer break.

We listen to the school principal’s speech in the unbearably hot auditorium, then we attend homeroom, and finally—

“Summer break’s here!! Heck yeaaaaahhhh!!” Tajima shouts energetically, but he’s not the only one. Our entire class is as excited as him.

“Yuuji-kun!” Even Yuito is in high spirits. “Our summer break begins today! What do you plan on doing?”

“I think I’d like to visit either the pool or the beach.”

“Me too!”

“Wanna go together, then?”

“I can join you?”

“Of course. We’re friends, aren’t we?”

“Yup!” Yuito smiles from ear to ear.

One beat later, I see two girls appear behind him—the same routine as always.

“Yuito, Kasashima-kun! What you were discussing just now sounded like a lot of fun,” Mahiro says.

“Kasashima, stop hogging Yui-kun! It’s not fair!” Rina tells me.

“Ha! It is, though! After all, Yuito and I are the best of buddies!”

“Hey, don’t look at me with that smug smile on your face!” she responds.

“Mahiro-chan, Rina-chan, what will you do during the summer break?” Yuito asks.

“I’ll go anywhere as long as I’m with you, Yuito,” replies Mahiro.

“I wanna go to the beach! Can you choose a swimsuit for me, Yui-kun?” asks Rina.

“Yay! Let’s go to the beach together!” Yuito exclaims.

I take a look around and notice a few of my classmates throwing little glances at the two sisters, apparently wishing to invite the two of them to hang out during the summer break, but… Yuito and the sisters seem to be enjoying their little chat so much that it makes it hard for the other boys to ask them out, huh.

Thankfully, I’ve already developed a resistance to their antics.

Rina’s staring at me.

“Kasashima, if you want to tag along, I might just allow it, but you need to ask nicely, okay?”

“Excuse me? I invited Yuito to the beach first. You should be asking me for permission. Isn’t that right, Yuito?”

“You did invite me first, Yuuji-kun!”

“On that note, Rina-san, if you will—Ouch! Ouch, ouch! Stop pulling my cheeks!!”

“You’re just too cheeky, Kasashima!”

“Ouch! I’m messing with you!”

Lately, I’ve had more chances to chat and kid around with Rina. I think it’s kind of nice that we’re getting closer, and if it also helps me avoid the bad ending, well, all the better.

“Hold on, guys,” Mahiro interjects.

“What’s wrong, Mahiro-chan?”

With a troubled look on her face, Mahiro checks her phone and then glances at us.

“Are you free after this? There’s something I need to do, and I’d like you to tag along.”
