VSA – Chapter 55: Who Sits by the Maid’s Side?

Translator: Haruto.

“So this is a Benz! How cool!”

As soon as we arrive at the parking lot, we spot my black Benz. Yuito’s eyes are shining with excitement as he looks at it.

We’ve started using this Benz because I never quite got used to how conspicuous the limousine was, but honestly, this is yet another exceedingly fancy vehicle to me. While I’ve been adapting to the life of the rich much better as of late, I’m still a regular middle-class guy at heart.

“Do you really not mind giving us a ride?” Yuito asks.

“Not at all,” Hibari answers.

“Yay! You don’t get to ride on a Benz every day!” he says.

“Well, it’s obvious Yui-kun is on board with the idea… What should we do, Sis? Should we take them on their kind offer?” Rina asks her sister.

“I believe we should. Hibari-san, could you please take us to the convenience store near our home?” Mahiro politely requests.

“Yes, of course,” Hibari replies before smoothly opening the back door.

“Waah!! I’ve seen this kind of thing on TV before!!” Yuito exclaims.

“I must inform you that only three people can fit in the backseat of the car,” Hibari says.

“Only three people…”

There are four passengers in total, counting me, which means that someone will have to take the front seat, and if I end up stuck with the two sisters in the back…

“In that case, I’ll—”

“The seat next to Hibari belongs to me!!” I immediately shout, having noticed that the kind-hearted Yuito was about to offer himself for the role.

I feel bad for interrupting him like that, but there’s no way I’m sitting in the back. Also, I basically opened my mouth without thinking, so I’m not even sure I used the correct phrasing, but whatever…

“This is your first time riding a Benz, isn’t it, Yuito? Trust me, you’ll enjoy yourself a lot more sitting in the back. I always sit there, anyway, so it’d be my pleasure to let you have it today.”

“Oh, okay! I’ll sit in the back, then! Thank you, Yuuji-kun!”

“Sure thing.”

Mahiro then enters the car, followed by Yuito and Rina. My boy Yuito is yet again sandwiched between the two sisters, as per the natural order of things.

“Yuuji-sama, if you will.”

“Ah, thank you.”

Hibari kindly opens the door for me, and I get in.

We set off as soon as she takes the driver’s seat. For a moment, I worried about what we should all talk about, but…

“…I can’t believe they fell asleep so quickly…”

Five minutes into the ride, I look at the rear-view mirror and notice our three other passengers sleeping soundly.

“This Benz’s got some special powers…”

But well, it’s probably not just because of how comfortable this car is. I bet they had a lot of built-up fatigue without even realizing it, especially Mahiro who’s always spending huge chunks of energy turning down admirers.

Now that I think about it, I also enjoyed a similar nap the first time I went to the mall with Hibari. I still remember how surprised I was to find myself in some unknown parking lot when I opened my eyes.

“I know how to get to the convenience store they mentioned, so I think it should be fine to let them enjoy their nap,” Hibari says.

“Yeah, I agree. Wanna chat with me in the meantime?”

“I’m afraid you’ll make me laugh so hard that we’ll end up crashing, so I don’t believe that’s a good idea.”

“Even I know I’m not that funny!”

Oops, I ended up raising my voice a little going along with Hibari’s joke… I need to be quiet…

“Having you by my side is enough for me, Yuuji-sama.”

“I see…”

Oh well, I don’t want to disturb her while she’s driving. Let’s just enjoy the silence for now.

The car stops at the convenience store where I met Yuito for the first time.

Phwaah! I slept like a log!” he says.

“You all did,” I reply.

“Thank you very much for the ride. Our houses are not far away from here, so we’ll just walk there,” Mahiro says, bowing slightly.

The three of them wave to us and leave.

“Hibari, do you mind if I go into the store? It’ll just be a moment.”

“Not at all,” she responds.

I step into the store and buy a cup of coffee. I was feeling thirsty and couldn’t wait to get home.

After paying for the coffee, I walk towards the exit, and that’s when I spot Yuito talking to Hibari, even though he should have left already.

“Oh, he’s smiling.” He seems happy for some reason.

I don’t want to interrupt their chat, so I decide to wait until they’re done.

As soon as he leaves, I walk out of the store.

“Did Yuito forget something?”

“No, it was just a bit of chit-chat.”

“I see.”

If Hibari says so, then that must be the case. I’m not gonna pry.

“…”

“Hm? What is it? Do I have something on my face?” I ask her.

“No, it’s nothing.”

Alright, now you’re making me curious!!
