We’re currently drinking a nice cup of coffee after having had our meal. I’m finally beginning to enjoy my day off.

“By the way, Yuuji-sama, are you not going to meet with Yuito-sama today?”

“We only see each other at school.”

“Did you not ask him out?”

“Well, we haven’t really exchanged numbers yet.”

My hand came to a full stop as I was trying to pick up my cup.

…Did she just say that she enjoys being with me? The same Hibari that wears an almost perpetual stone-cold expression on her face?

“H-Hibari…?”

My eyes widen in surprise. I stare intently at her as if I was asking her to elaborate, however, she just gets up from the table and says, “We’ve finished our coffee already so I believe it’s time to leave the store.”

“Huh? Ah, hold on… I haven’t finished mine! And wait, I’ll pay so give me the bill!”

I drank the rest of my coffee in one sip and ran after Hibari.

It tasted kind of sweet even though I didn’t put any sugar in it—perhaps because I was feeling happy.

A few seconds after Yuuji and Hibari had left the store, one of the two girls that were talking about them said, “Yup, I’m almost entirely sure they’re dating.”

“Wait, are you serious?”  

“Of course! Didn’t you see how the girl was smiling when she began walking behind him? People show how they truly feel when they think nobody is watching. In other words, if she didn’t feel anything for him, she wouldn’t smile so happily while hiding behind him.”

“Okay, but like, do you think they’re actually a couple?”

“I think so anyways. Although, perhaps that girl just has a one-sided cru—”

By the time we left the store, it had gotten much brighter outside. And there’s no doubt that it’ll get much hotter in the afternoon.

“So, where do you wanna go?”

We’ve been messing around so much that we almost forgot about choosing our destination.

“I’ll just follow you wherever you go.”

“Are you a stalker or something? I want you to choose the place, Hibari.”

“Me?”

“Yeah, you’re always taking care of me so to thank you for everything, I’d like to take you somewhere you like and buy you whatever you want.”

“I’m your maid so it’s only natural that I’d take care of you. Besides, you don’t have to go out of your way to give me a token of your appreciation when I’m already receiving a good salary.”

“Come on, just forget all about that perfectly rational argument for now, and let me thank you for your help. I promise you won’t have to spend a cent today!”

“I trust your father is still giving you an allowance so money is not what I’m worried about…”

“Urk… I-It doesn’t matter if it’s coming from my allowance, I still want to do something for you so can you please let me act cool for once?”

“I understand. In that case, I’ll gladly accept your offer, Yuuji-sama.”

“Great. We’re not in a rush so you can take as much time as you need to decide. I’ll take you wherever you like.”  

Hibari puts her hand on her chin, deep in thought.

I’ve always thought of her as quite a mature girl so I’m almost sure she’ll choose either a fancy perfumery or some other luxury store.

“I may choose whatever place I like, correct? And I’ll have you all to myself?”

“Y-Yeah.”

I’ll definitely take her wherever she wants, but… why would she even ask that second question? I mean, it’s just the two of us right now so it’s kind of a given, isn’t it?

She continues pondering for a few more seconds until she seems to have reached a decision. Then she raises her head and says, “I’ve decided… Let us go, Yuuji-sama. And please take good care of me.”

“Y-You got it.”
